Olena Zaitseva who was charged with causing the deadly road traffic accident in Kharkiv on Oct. 18 has entered a guilty plea.

Journalist Slava Mavrichev wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Zaitseva takes the floor during the court hearing on extension of her pre-trial restriction. She appeals to the relatives of the victims and asks for their forgiveness shedding tears. She swears she is willing to "give up her life" if she has a chance to make things right. She says she will never drive a car again. She claims that she has never taken drugs. And lastly, she fully admits her guilt in causing the road accident," the journalist said.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office of the Kharkiv region approved the indictment to 20-year-old local Olena Zaitseva for violation of traffic rules that led to the death of five people (part 3 article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). On Nov. 6, the law enforcers also brought charges against the second participant of the road traffic accident, Volkswagen Touareg driver Hennadii Dronov.

Oct. 18, a Lexus crashed into a pedestrian crowd in Kharkiv, killing five on spot and wounding six people. The driver, a 20-year-old woman, was detained and arrested by the court for two months.
