"Who authorized foreign security agency operation in Ukraine anyway?" – prosecutor general slams Sytnyk’s statement on NABU-FBI cooperation

Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko accused Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Artem Sytnyk of authorizing illegal operations carried out by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation in the territory of Ukraine.

As reported by Censor.NET citing TSN, Lutsenko commented on Sytnyk’s statement on NABU’s cooperation with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation in probe into corruption in Ukraine’s Migration Service and illegal amber extraction.

"Artem Sytnyk said on air of your TV show that this was a joint operation of the NABU and FBI. His statement raises the question: who authorized foreign security agency operation in Ukraine’s territory anyway? I am aware of only one instance when the FBI was invited to Ukraine after Pavel Sheremet’s murder.

“A joint operation, as he called it, was illegal without appropriate procedures. I understand Sytnyk's desire to cover up his huge problems unlike using the foreign partners as a cover," Lutsenko said.

The prosecutor general believes the parliament should draft amendments to the law on NABU.
