According to Bild, the information is provided by the German government, referring to the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) in response to inquiry of member of the Bundestag Committee on Defense, representative of the Left Party Alexander Neu, Censor.NET reports.
According to the secret data, it refers to Russian self-propelled land-based anti-aircraft missile-gun complexes Pantsyr, spotted in the eastern regions of Ukraine in the middle and end of August.
In its response, the Berlin government stated that the detected air defense systems are not in the service of the Ukrainian army. Whether they were manned by pro-Russian separatists as well as whether they were used at the time of Malaysian Flight MN17 downing in mid-July remains unclear. At the same time the German intelligence has information that the separatists were partially trained in the Russian territory.
According to the newspaper, this information is classified for reasons of national security.
