Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told the European Union's foreign ministers on Saturday in Brussels that Ukraine is very close to the point of no return. "The point of no return is full-scale war, which already happened in territory controlled by separatists and regular Russian troops," Poroshenko said. "Any offensive action [undertaken by Russia] would be the point of no return. That's why we undertake the enormous efforts to stop that and bring the discussion in a diplomatic format."

He noted that the key topic of discussion should be political settlement of the situation through implementation of a peace plan. "Next week we will publish a draft of the peace plan," he said.

Poroshenko also hopes that Monday talks of the trilateral contact group involving Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on ceasefire will be effective. On Monday, the meeting of the trilateral contact group with the participation of the OSCE ambassador Heidi Tagliavini, former president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma and Russia's ambassador Mikhail Zurabov will be held. The discussion topics will include hostages, including those illegally held in Russia, and the OSCE monitoring mission.
