ЕU Have to Impose New Sanctions on Russia - EU Foreign Ministers

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, the Netherlands and Estonia have condemned Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, saying that in response they are ready to attach more economic sanctions.

This was stated at an EU foreign ministers' meeting in Milan, Radio Svoboda informs.

"We have to be aware of what we are facing: We are now in the midst of the second Russian invasion of Ukraine within a year," Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said.

In the face of an increasingly assertive Russia, the EU must reconsider its long-term security policies and investments, Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmerans claimed that, "if Russia will not change its strategy we can not do anything without flare-up between our countries".

"The European Union should be ready to move forward with possible new measures against Russia because the situation is still getting worse," Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said.
