President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law "On Combating Terrorism" regarding preventive detention of individuals involved in terrorist activities in the area of ​anti-terrorism operation for a period exceeding 72 hours.

According to the document, in order to prevent terrorist threats in the area of ​​anti-terrorist operations preventive detention of persons involved in terrorist activities can be carried out for a period exceeding 72 hours. The period for preventive detention can not exceed 30 days.
The grounds for preventive detention are the presence of reasonable suspicion that a person is involved in terrorist activity. Preventive detention is carried out due to a reasoned decision of the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, heads of the regional departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and its department in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol, with a consent of a prosecutor and without an order of the investigating judge and a court.
