 During the Conflict Terrorists Kidnapped Over 1,000 People. The Fate of 500 is Still Unknown

In 5 months over one thousand people had been kidnapped in the Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.

This was stated by Advisor to the Interior Minister Zorian Shkiriak at a press briefing on Tuesday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinfrom.

"According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs from April to August 1,026 kidnappings and hostage taking of people were documented in the Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions," Shkiriak said.

He noted that among the kidnapped are: 53 journalists, 174 law enforcement officers, 115 border guards and soldiers, 40 politicians of different levels and members of political parties, 26 representatives of the OSCE, 6 prosecutors, 5 employees of the SBU, two judges, two lawyers, one representative of the prison service.

"Currently 558 people are released or their location is known; the fate of 468 is yet unknown," Shkiriak said.

In addition, he stated that since April there have been 1,460 registered reports of missing persons.
