During the Conflict Terrorists Kidnapped Over 1,000 People. The Fate of 500 is Still Unknown

In 5 months over one thousand people had been kidnapped in the Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.

This was stated by Advisor to the Interior Minister ZorianShkiriak at a press briefing on Tuesday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinfrom.

"According to theMinistry of Internal Affairs from April to August 1,026 kidnappingsand hostage taking of people were documented in the Donetsk,Luhansk and Kharkiv regions," Shkiriak said.

He noted that among thekidnapped are: 53 journalists, 174 law enforcement officers, 115border guards and soldiers, 40 politicians of different levels andmembers of political parties, 26 representatives of the OSCE, 6prosecutors, 5 employees of the SBU, two judges, two lawyers, onerepresentative of the prison service.

"Currently 558 peopleare released or their location is known; the fate of 468 is yetunknown," Shkiriak said.

In addition, he statedthat since April there have been 1,460 registered reports ofmissing persons.
