 Donbas Battalion Commander Semenchenko Wounded in Battle for Liberation of Ilovaisk

The commander of the Donbas National Guard battalion Semen Semenchenko who has been at the front the past 2 days, received shrapnel wounds in battle with terrorists for the liberation of Ilovaisk.

This was stated by Interior Minister Arsen Avakov on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"The frontal attack group sweeping Ilovaisk for terrorists ran into mortar fire. They withstood the attack did not turn around. Among our guys - one soldier was killed and four wounded. Including Semen. Multiple shrapnel. Everyone was taken out of the battlefield to the hospital . Preliminary info - their lives are not in danger. We are sending reserves to help the guys. Keeping the fingers crossed! Glory to the brave warriors," Avakov wrote.

The wounding of Semenchenko was also confirmed by Censor.NET editor-in-chief Yurii Butusov on his Facebook page:

"The Donbas battalion commander Semen Semenchenko was wounded in the battle for Ilovaisk. Shrapnel wounds. This is serious. Semen had been in the advance combat formations from the very beginning of the operation. The actions of the Donbas and Dnipro are highly regarded by the army command. All injured were provided first medical help in a timely manner. They have been evacuated from the battlefield. Commander of the sector B General Khomchak thanked the Donbas commander and his soldiers for their bravery and expressed hopes for a speedy recovery and return. Semen handed the command of the battalion to his officers and the Donbas continues to perform all combat tasks," Butusov wrote.

Semenchenko was diagnosed with moderate wounds. Now he and the other wounded soldiers of the Donbas are being transported for treatment to Dnipropetrovsk.
