 Red Cross European Operations Chief: We Have only General Description of the Humanitarian Aid Cargo

Ukrainian border guards and customs officers are to start the inspection of the Russian "humanitaria aid" convoy on Friday. The Russian side have a general description of the goods.

Red Cross European operations chief Laurent Corbaz said about it, Censor.NET reports, citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"As we know, this work is due to start this morning. But there is no confirmation of the beginning of the inspection," Laurent Corbaz said at a meeting with journalists in Kyiv on Friday.

According to him, the Russian cargo will be inspect by a group of 80 Ukrainian representatives: 40 border guards and 40 customs officers.

Corbaz also reported that the ICRC has received only a general description of the cargo from the Russian side, which is in 262 trucks, but they do not know in detail what is in each truck. The ICRC hopes to get from this information from the inspection team.

According to him, in accordance with the agreement the convoy will enter Ukraine only after verification by the competent Ukrainian authorities. In this case, there will be only one Russian driver in each truck, the other two or three will be replaced by the drivers of the ICRC at the border .
