 Rasmussen Does Not Believe Putin’s Words About Helping Ukraine to Resolve the Crisis: We Heard This Before

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has expressed doubts about the sincerity of today's statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin on his willingness to do everything possible to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

Rasmussen said this during a visit to Norway, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

"If this is a genuine attempt to reduce the tension I welcome the speech [of Putin], together with the steps that he could make," he said.

"Unfortunately, we have heard such declarations in the past but they were not realized in any practical action. Quite the contrary," the NATO Secretary General said.

Earlier today during a speech before the deputies of the Russian State Duma in annexed Crimea, Putin said that the Russian government will do everything possible in order to "stop the bloody chaos" and "fratricidal war" in Ukraine.
