Saboteurs with a Grenade Launcher in a Car with Russian Plates Detained on the Maidan

Law enforcement officers detained two subversive groups after the morning clashes at the Independence Square (the Maidan) in Kyiv.

This was stated by head of the Security Service of Ukraine on Thursday, Ukrainska Pravda reports.

"Two subversive groups were detained. First one had grenades. And instead of helping the maintenance crews and the Maidan people to restore order, they were planning to make an act of sabotage against the civilians. Second one - a vehicle with Russian license plates with a grenade launcher in it, which at the time began to move towards the Maidan was detained," Nalyvaichenko said.

According to the head of the SBU, the circumstances of the planned incidents are now being investigated in the course of the interrogation of detainees.

He could not name the exact number of people in the subversive group with grenades.

"For the safety of the city and all citizens really important that the maintenance crew can clear up at least the roadway that will eliminate an opportunity to leave illegal items there and thus protect the people of the Maidan and Kyiv residents," Nalyvaichenko said.

Meanwhile, at the Maidan unidentified persons are reinforcing the barricades with wooden pallets and barbed wire that they are laying on top of the tires.

This is being done by a few dozen people in camouflage with sticks. The faces of some of them are closed with balaclavas.

At the same time, the perimeter of the tent city decreased slightly and now occupies the roadway of Khreschatyk street from the Trade Unions Building to the Post Office.
