 245 Ukrainian Soldiers Are Held in the Russian Military Camp and Questioned by Security Agencies

The camp where the Ukrainian military are held is guarded by the Russian Army special detachment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that 245 Ukrainian soldiers stay at a military camp near the border crossing point Gukovo in the Rostov region of Russia. The Foreign Ministry information policy department deputy Director Vasyl Zvarych said this at a briefing, Censor.NET informs citing lb.ua.

"Now there are 245 servicemen, including 50 officers, in a military camp near the border crossing point Gukovo in Rostov region. The camp is guarded by the special detachment of the Russian Armed Forces," he said.

Zvarych stressed that investigative measures are conducted regarding each Ukrainian servicemen by the Investigative Committee of Russia. The security agencies are interrogating them.

In addition, he denied that the Ukrainian military requested asylum in Russia. Earlier, Russian media reported that the soldiers who crossed the border requested asylum in the Russian Federation.

The ATO command reported that the soldiers (part of them are servicemen of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed forces and border guards) were forced to cross the border because of the heavy shelling. They ran out of ammunition to shoot back from the terrorists.

According to Lysenko, 171 Ukrainian servicemen and 140 border guards were on the territory of Russia as at 05:00 pm on August 4.
