NSDC Explained Why Russian Military Aircrafts that Intrude in Ukrainian Airspace Are Not Shot Down

Press secretary of the NSDC information center Andrii Lysenko explained why Ukrainian Army does not shoot down Russian warplanes that violate the airspace of Ukraine.

He said this at the briefing in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports, citing UNIAN.

"The Russian Federation aviation crosses the state border of Ukraine with the reconnaissance purpose and provocative actions. Aviation, which crosses the border, does not use available firing armament," he says.

"The flyovers should keep Ukrainian military in suspense. Provocation is their main goal," Lysenko says.

Speaker of the National Security and Defense Council noted that the planes come at low altitudes and the radar systems may not detect them at once. They gain altitude when return and then they are already visible by the radars and could be fixed."

"At low altitudes the aircrafts are registered by our border guards but they have no means of air defense to destroy these aircrafts. If they flew a little further, then they would be downed by the air defense systems of the Armed forces of Ukraine," Lysenko assured.
