"Face-to-face consultations of the Tripartite Liaison Group (Ukraine-Russia-OSCE) aimed to resolve the situation in eastern Ukraine with participation of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic representatives are held in Minsk," the statement says.
It is specified that the contact group is in full force: Ukrainian ex-President Leonid Kuchma, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov and official representative of the OSCE on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine Adelheid Tagliavini. The parties agreed the possibility of the involvement of experts to work out the technical details of the issues discussed. Unnamed sources previously expressed the opinion in the media that the meeting may start on August 1.
According to Poroshenko, there are two issues proposed for the discussion: the release of all hostages remaining in captivity with the insurgents (there are total of 168 people) and the international experts' access to the Malaysian airliner crash site grant.
