 U.S. Will Never Recognize the Annexation of Crimea - Tefft

Russia's attempts to annex Crimea, which the United States will never recognize have infringed the basic provisions of international law destroying the very structure of commitments voluntarily assumed by the European countries which helped to keep the peace for almost 70 years.

Candidate for the post of U.S. Ambassador to Moscow John Tefft stated this, Censor.NET reports citing Radio Liberty.

Russia's policy of destabilization of eastern Ukraine parts is violation of the sovereignty of the neighboring country and those commitments to respect the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, which Russia has undertaken, the diplomat said.

It should be reminded that the U.S. does not have an ambassador to Russia since February. The relations between Washington and Moscow have deteriorated significantly in recent months over the tense situation in Ukraine after the Russian intervention. Former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine and Georgia John Tefft is considered to be hostile to the Kremlin according to many Russians. But the supporters call Tefft unrivaled and professional diplomat.
