Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of Ukraine discontinued activity of the criminal group consisting of three members. The gang members were arrested. The investigation established their involvement in armed assaults on major shopping centers of Mariupol in May 2014, Censor.NET reports citing LigaBiznesInform.
This criminal group was part of the gang led by the crime boss nicknamed Chechen, which was organized at the end of April 2014 with the aim of committing robberies of supermarkets and shopping malls in Mariupol, the press service of the Interior Ministry states. Funds obtained as a result of committing crimes were passed to the heads of the terrorist organization DPR.
Parts of plastic casings of ATMs, bills receiving containers, a frame from the self-service terminal and other material evidence were seized during search of the temporary residence of one of the members of the group
The detainees were announced of suspicion of committing a crime under part 3 of the Article 187 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. The court established a preventive measure in the form of arrest.
Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department along with other investigating agencies are working at locating and detaining Chechen and other mobsters.
