Turchynov called the event historic, Censor.NET reports.
"The Parliament has been coming to this for a long time," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said, noting that this week has seen "a mistake in the Regulations Law corrected."
Oleksandr Turchynov said that based on the results of the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation and the Regulations the parliamentary faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine was formed in the amount of 33 lawmakers. On July 1, 2014, this faction was reduced to 23 MPs, he said, which is significantly less than the minimum number for a faction.
"In this regard and pursuant to Part 4 of Article 60 of the Regulations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine I announce the dissolution of the parliamentary faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation," said Oleksandr Turchynov, calling it a historic event, the press service of the Parliament reports.
"I hope that Communist factions in the Ukrainian parliament will never exist again," he added.
