 Boeing-777 of Malaysian Airlines Crashes in Eastern Ukraine (updated)

Boeing-777 of the Malaysian Airlines crashed near Torez city of the Donetsk region.

Head of Information Resistance group Dmytro Tymchuk writes: "According to the Information Resistance group data, a civilian airliner crashed near Torez. At 16:20 the contact with the Malaysia Airlines plane flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was lost in Kyiv and Rostov. The Ukrainian troops from the ATO forces have no air defense means in the place of the operation. However, air defense is constantly used in this region by pro-Russian terrorists and armed forces units," Tymchuk wrote.

The information was also confirmed by adviser to the Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko on his Facebook page: "Just now near Torez the terrorists using anti-missile system Buk kindly provided by Putin shot down civilian aircraft Amsterdam - Kuala-Lumpur. In the morning, local patriots recorded movement of this complex from Torez to Snizhne. The plane was flying at an altitude of 10,000 meters."

There were 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board. They all died.

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 was shot down by a surface-to-air missile, American officials said.
