 Detention of Ukrainian Pilot Savchenko Questions the Commitment of the Russian Federation to the CE Member's Duties

The EU is concerned with the imprisonment of Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko in Russia. Kremlin casts doubt on Russia's compliance with the obligations as a member of the Council of Europe and member of the European Convention on Human Rights by such a move.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy speaker made this statement on Thursday, Censor.NET says citing Ukrinform.

"We are concerned about moving Ukrainian military pilot Nadia Savchenko into the territory of the Russian Federation with further imprisonment, which preceded her abduction by militants in eastern Ukraine. This raises the question of the Russian Federation's international obligations compliance," the EU stated.

The European Union also encourages in a statement the admission of Ukrainian consul to Nadia Savchenko grunted by the Russian Federation.
