 Poroshenko Calls on the EU to Demonstrate a Powerful Position in Supporting Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy coordinated positions before the meeting of the European Council in the course of which it is planned to discuss the Ukrainian issue.

Censor.NET citing the press service of the President reports that in the course of the phone conversation, the Head of State called on the EU to "demonstrate a powerful position of actions on the support of Ukraine".

Petro Poroshenko informed Herman Van Rompuy on the situation in the Donbas and the progress of the ATO. He also reported on many new facts of crossing the Ukrainian border by the militants and supplying major end items by the Russian party.

In addition, the President expressed concern over the illegal imprisonment of the Ukrainian citizens - pilot Nadiia Savchenko and director Oleh Sentsov who had been illegally taken to the territory of the Russian Federation. The Head of State called on the EU to respond to the fact of violation of the international law and make a respective statement.

President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy expressed support to the actions of the Ukrainian government and wished "courage in such a complicated situation".
