Germany allocated EUR 2.5 million for the needs of residents of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk affected by the actions of terrorists who destroyed the infrastructure of these cities.

Censor.NET reports about it, citing the press service of the President of Ukraine. President Poroshenko held a trilateral phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and President of France François Hollande. The Head of State expressed gratitude to Germany and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel for the decision to allocate EUR 2.5 million for the needs of residents of Sloviansk and Kramators.

"We consider this decision not only as financial, but also as moral support of the EU countries," Petro Poroshenko stressed.

The President and the Chancellor discussed further steps on de-escalation of the situation in the Donbas. Petro Poroshenko emphasizes that Ukraine appreciates efforts and support of France and Germany in the issue of peaceful settlement.

The Head of State informed the interlocutors on the situation in the east of the country, particularly on the liberation of 5 cities in Donetsk region in the past few days. Still, the situation remains tensed because of concentration of terrorists in Donetsk and supply of weapons across the Ukrainian-Russian border for them.

Interlocutors noted the absence of progress on behalf of Russia in the fulfillment of arrangements achieved earlier. The President emphasized that the members of trilateral contact group were willing to discuss different options on place and time of the next meeting, but the other side was unwilling to do so.

The Head of State also drew attention to the fact that pilot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko had been captured by militants in Luhansk region and found in prison of the city of Voronezh. The President called the occasions of bringing hostages captured by terrorists to Russia inadmissible.
