As noted in thepublication, the explosion was preceded by several shots similar toa heavy machine gun. Then the sky lit up with a bright flash andthere was a loud roar. In the central part of the city numerous caralarms sounded. Expected shootout did not follow. 10-15 minuteslater a few shots were made from an automaticweapon.
According to thenewspaper, infantry jet flamethrower Smel (Bumblebee) was used tofire the town council from the parking lot. The explosion occurredoutside the building on the second floor where the archives arelocated. A small fire started but was promptly extinguished. Thearchive remain intact. The building of the town council and theneighbouring houses have many shattered windows.
One soldier ofArtemivsk special battalion was lightly wounded. It is likely thatthe attack was committed by sabotage and intelligence group of theDPR, but this information is not confirmed.
