Kuchma answered journalists' question in Kyiv on Thursday of whether to hold consultations with the same representatives of the DPR and LPR, who have already participated: "There are no other people. Donbas is still mostly under their control."
At the same time Kuchma answered a question of how much these people are independent in their decisions and may be it is worth conducting such consultations at a higher level with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin: "I have similar opinion. I did mention that without Putin the problem of Donbas won't be solved, besides, you see the behavior of the European Union too."
Multilateral consultations took place in the Donetsk regional state administration on June 23. Leonid Kuchma, the head of the OSCE Representative Heidi Tagliavini, the Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov, as well as the head of the public organization Ukrainian choice Medvedchuk, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic Prime Minister Alexander Borodai, leader of the Yugo-Vostok movement Oleh Tsariov and representatives of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic participated in the meeting.
