 The Russian Federation Council Reversed the Decision on the Use of Russian Troops in Ukraine

The Federation Council reversed its decision of March 1 which granted the President the right to use the Armed Forces of Russia in the territory of Ukraine.

The decision was supported by 153 senators, with 1 vote against, Censor.NET reports citing ITAR-TASS.

The decision enters into force on the day of its adoption.

The corresponding letter of the Russian Head of State was received by the Upper House the previous day, RIA Novosti reports. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that it was done "in order to stabilize the conditions and resolve the situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine as well as in connection with the beginning of trilateral talks on the issue."
