Putin Advises Federation Council to Cancel the use of Russian Troops in Ukraine, but we are Witnessing a Significant Increase in their Concentration Near our Borders - Sergeiev

Russia continues to build up military presence on the border with Ukraine.

Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Yurii Sergeiev stated this at a session of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine. "We welcome the intention of the Russian president to cancel the decision of the Federation Council on the use of the armed forces on the territory of Ukraine. However, we are witnessing a significant increase in the concentration of troops and military vehicles of the Russian Federation in recent days in the border regions of Russia and Ukraine," he said.

The diplomat also noted that in response to the peace initiatives of the President of Ukraine the members of illegal armed groups continue to attack, explicitly breaking the truce. The representative of Ukraine also urged all international partners to support the determined efforts of the Ukrainian authorities to restore peace.

"We ask the international community to support Poroshenko's plan for a peaceful reconciliation in eastern Ukraine," Sergeiev said. Cenzor.NET reported earlier that Putin was going to protect Russians and non-Russians in Ukraine instead of defending the state of Ukraine.
