Poroshenko Sends Kuchma to Negotiate with Russia, Source Says

Former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma will represent Ukraine in the tripartite negotiations with the European Union and Russia to resolve the conflict in the Donbas.

This is reported by Ukrainska Pravda sources in thePresidential Administration, Censor.NET reports.

The source statesthat Kuchma was appointed to negotiate within a contact group byPresident Poroshenko.

The ex-Presidentis to replace foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin who leaves forBrussels to prepare for the signing of the economic part of theAssociation Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

It was previouslyreported on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressedhis joy that Viktor Medvedchuk "received a mandate" to negotiatewith the OSCE on behalf of both militant organizations in the East- the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Putin is a godfatherof Medvedchuk's son. Medvedchuk is not included inthe tripartite group.
