Poroshenko Sends Kuchma to Negotiate with Russia, Source Says

Former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma will represent Ukraine in the tripartite negotiations with the European Union and Russia to resolve the conflict in the Donbas.

This is reported by Ukrainska Pravda sources in the Presidential Administration, Censor.NET reports.

The source states that Kuchma was appointed to negotiate within a contact group by President Poroshenko.

The ex-President is to replace foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin who leaves for Brussels to prepare for the signing of the economic part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

It was previously reported on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his joy that Viktor Medvedchuk "received a mandate" to negotiate with the OSCE on behalf of both militant organizations in the East - the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Putin is a godfather of Medvedchuk's son. Medvedchuk is not included in the tripartite group.
