This is stated in a joint statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense, Censor.NET reports.
"As a manifestation of a firm intention to protect the lives and security of the State, the President - Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko launched a peace plan to address the situation in certain areas in the east of the country. The first step was the decree of the President of Ukraine to the Armed Forces, the National Guard, Border Guard Service and the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to unilaterally cease fire. The course for peace is always adhered to by Ukraine," the statement says.
The ministriesalso emphasize that the position of the Head of the Ukrainian state has been granted unanimous support by the entire international community. In response to the initiatives that will restore peace, the militants and terrorists continued armed attacks, boldly breaking the terms of the ceasefire.
Just in one night on June 22 the illegal armed groups had committed eleven shellings of the positions of the Ukrainian Army in the area of Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Artemovsk, and other cities. During the day, gunmen had conducted a series of attacks and mortar assaults on the Ukrainian border in the residential areas of Chervonopartyzansk, Biriukovo and Nizdrivka in the Luhansk region. The provocations continue.
"The militants' attempts aimed at escalation of the situation require immediate and decisive international condemnation. Ukraine appeals to all foreign partners to support the consistent efforts of our state to restore peace and unconditional implementation of the provisions of the Geneva Declaration of April 17 this year by all its parties.
The main demand concerns Russia. Our government, together with the international community expects from the Russian Federation real active support for the peace plan of the President of Ukraine, protection of our borders from terrorists and unconditional implementation of the impact on illegal terrorist groups in the east of the country for an immediate ceasefire and surrender of their weapons. Any encouraging of the terrorists will have critical consequences," the statement says.
