Putin Supports Poroshenko's Plan to Resolve the Situation in the Donbas

Russian President Vladimir Putin supports the decision of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko of unilateral ceasefire in eastern Ukraine and the intention to take steps to resolve the situation peacefully.

This is reported by the press service of the Administration of Russian President, Censor.NET reports.

"However, the Russian head of the state would like to draw attention to the fact that the proposed plan without practical actions aimed at the beginning of the negotiation process will not be viable and realistic. The announced peace plan of Petro Poroshenko should not be in the form of an ultimatum to the militia. The opportunity that opens with the termination of hostilities should be used to start meaningful negotiations and political compromises between the warring parties in eastern Ukraine," the press service states.

Putin also considers unacceptable the situation when after the order to cease-fire, ammunition gets into Russia from the Ukrainian side and explodes. "The opportunity that opens with the cessation of hostilities should be used to start meaningful negotiations and political compromises between the warring parties in eastern Ukraine. Russian President calls upon the conflicting parties to stop all hostilities and sit down for negotiations," the statements says.
