Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland expressed support for the peace plan of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. It was reported by the Council's press center, Censor.NET informs, refering to lb.ua.
"President Poroshenko has our full support to this plan for eastern Ukraine - an important step forward to achieve peace and stability in Ukraine," Jagland stressed.

According to Thorbjørn Jagland, in the current situation it is the most important that all parties refrained from violence and to put human rights and the law above all ambitions.
Jagland also expects that after the announcement of the peace plan situation in eastern Ukraine will stabilize, and the Ukrainian and Russian sides will quickly sit at the negotiating table.

Yesterday, the EU Foreign Affairs Council welcomed an announcement by President Poroshenko of a ceasefire and a 15-point plan for peaceful settlement of the crisis in Eastern Ukraine.
