The criminal proceedings against the former head of the National Bank and the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine are registered. The accounts in Ukrainian banks where he holds his securities are blocked.

General Prosecutor's Office arrested the accounts of Serhii Arbuzov, where the state bonds on the amount of nearly $ 2 billion and 1.2 billion hryvnia were kept, the Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Oleksii Bahanets said, Censor.NET informs citing ZN.UA.

"Not all the former people in power hid their money abroad. We started the criminal proceedings against the former head of the National Bank and the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, and blocked the accounts in Ukrainian banks in which his securities kept. Just imagine: He bought state bonds at 9% discount for the money he stole and transferred to the offshore companies accounts and then turned back to Ukraine as an investment. There are state bonds on the amount of 1 billion 800 million only in dollar terms and also bonds worth 1 billion 200 million UAH arrested," Bahanets said at a press briefing on Wednesday, June 18.
