Volodymyr Chepovyi, speaker of the National Security and Defense Council's Information Center, announced this today on a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing LIGABiznesInform.
"Currently four tactical groups are sent to the border areas. It is quite possible that a number of Russian troops (in the border areas - Ed.) will increase in the future," he said.
Chepovyi also reported that on June 17 near the Russian city of Kaluga on a road in the direction of Bryansk a military convoy of 15 km long, consisting of armored personnel carriers (APC) and heavy tracked vehicles, was seen.
According to him, presence of the military and arms also increased in Crimea.
"In the peninsula, there is an increase of Chechen militants. According to a preliminary data, 250 soldiers of the battalion "Vostok" ("East") are relocated. Significant amount of military equipment - tanks, armored personnel carriers and other - is delivered through the Kerch Strait by ferry to Crimea," the speaker of the National Security Council said.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced that after regaining control on the Ukrainian-Russian border ceasefire will be ordered.
