Ukraine is unilaterally ceasing fire in the eastern Ukraine in order to allow members of illegal armed groups to disarm and to leave the country if they want to.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Censor.NET reports, citing Interfax-Ukraina.

"The plan is starting with my order of a unilateral ceasefire. Immediately after this we need to get support for the peace plan of the President from all participants in the Donbas. [It should be done] in a very short time," he told reporters on Wednesday, June 18, in Kyiv.

"From our side, we will offer amnesty to those who lay down their arms and those who has not committed serious crimes. I would suggest a corridor for Russian mercenaries to be able to leave the territory of our country without weapons," he stressed.

According to the President, the key element of the peace plan is constitutional changes with a profound decentralization of power.

"We expect that in the very short term many participants of this situations will demonstrate support for the peace plan. We expect that hostages will be released, occupied buildings will be vacated immediately. We expect that a large number of people in this region will use the guarantees of safety for residents of Donbass," Poroshenko stressed.

According to the President, the realization of the peace plan is being carefully prepared. "A key element of this plan is securing the state border. There are huge risks that criminals take advantage of the cease-fire," the President said.

According to him, today the President's peace plan has 14 political steps that will be released in the coming days.

As reported on Monday, Poroshenko expects that fighting in the east of the country will be stopped this week.
