This is reported by press secretary of the Russian President Dmitriy Peskov, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Russia.
"The two leaders discussed issues of bilateral Russian-Ukrainian relations," he said.
"They touched upon the topic of a possible ceasefire in a combat zone in the South-East of Ukraine", Peskov said.
"Putin has expressed concern over the tragic death of Russian journalists in the Luhansk region and emphasized the necessity of measures for the security of media representatives who work in the conflict zone in Ukraine," he stressed.
"Poroshenko expressed his condolences over the death of Russian journalists and assured Putin that an investigation will be conducted as well as the necessary arrangements for the safety of journalists will be made," the press secretary of the president of the Russian Federation said.
So far, neither Poroshenko's press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko nor the presidential press service have confirmed the conversation.
