"Concerning Gazprom claims, we can still file lawsuits for the amount of $18 billion in the Stockholm arbitration. These are the claims for underdrawn volumes of gas according to the contract. It is the take-and-pay scheme conditions in the amount of 11.7 billion dollars for the years 2012 and 2013 respectively. The claims' total would be $18 billion," Miller said.
This claim may follow the suit Gazprom has filed to the Stockholm arbitration against Naftogaz for the amount of $4.5 billion on Monday, June 16.
Earlier, Gazprom filed the suite to recover the debt for "the improper performance of its obligations by Naftogaz Ukraina under the contract." In its turn, the Ukrainian company filed a counterclaim against the Russian monopoly, requiring the recovery of $6 billion.
Russia has announced that it stops supplying gas to Ukraine from June 16, demanding payment.
