There are two Ukrainian teachers with the orphans, "Voice of Ukraine" reports citing chief of the Children Affairs Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Vira Sahaidak, Censor.NET writes.
On Thursday, gunmen seized a bus with 25 orphans that was going to a recreational center in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The terrorists made the transport turn towards the Dolzhanskyi checkpoint in the Luhansk region.
"Mom-caregiver of the family-type orphanage with two relatives and seven foster children categorically refused to leave Ukraine and are now coming back," Sahaidak said.
"Other children born 1996 to 2008 were forced to cross the border. Currently 16 students and two teachers are in a refugee camp in Novoshahtinsk," the interlocutor said.
The militants prevented transportation of 30 students from an orphanage in Kramatorsk. Everything was prepared to transport children up to 3 years old, many of them with congenital serious handicaps.
On the eve of the event, member of the staff leaked information to the representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic. They appeared in the orphanage at night, spent the night there, and in the morning prevented the transporatation of the children.
The orphanage students in Kramatorsk were evacuated earlier. Then director of the orphanage was later called to the "commander" of the city and asked about the purpose of bringing the children out.
"They accused us that we take children are taken for sale," shared information service for children.
Eyewitnesses say that after the orphanage students safely left the city, the crew of Russian NTV appeared and was disappointed: "We did not have time to shoot as they were hiding in cellars". The publication states that Sloviansk and not Kramatorsk residents are hiding in cellars hiding.
