Klitschko Given Time Till the End of the Week to Decide, Turchynov

Opposition is waiting for Udar leader Vitali Klitschko to decide whether he will run for the post of mayor of Kyiv.

This was announced by Batkivschyna deputy Oleksandr Turchynov in an interview with Focus.

According to Turchynov, the opposition should have decided who will be the single candidate for the mayoral post a long time ago.

"The question of a single opposition candidate is already late. Klitschko has worked in this direction for a long time , declared his readiness to run. Now that the opposition said they were ready to support him, he is silent. We cannot wait long. If Vitali does not decide, the opposition will nominate a different single candidate," said the deputy.

Turchynov noted that the opposition gave a deadline to Klitschko - before the end of this week. "I think this should be the last week when you need to decide," he said.

The deputy added that talks on a possible balloting for mayors from the opposition are being held with Petro Poroshenko and other candidates.

According to Turchynov, after a single candidate is chosen the other candidates have to give up their mayoral ambitions.

"Every member of our team can campaign - I do not see any problems. But when the opposition decides on a single candidate, I believe that everyone should obey the party discipline," he said, commenting on the appearance of Mykola Katerynchuk billboards in Kyiv.

On March 14 in the Udar denied the information on the nomination for mayor of Kiev Vladimir Klitschko.
