It is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
"The format of the CU should be determined on the four-party talks," Yanukovych said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Zavidovo (Tver region) on Monday, March 4.
At the same time, Yanukovych said that Ukraine understands that Russia is playing a key role in the CU.
He stressed that at this stage Ukraine is negotiating only with Russia.
Yanukovych noted that Ukraine currently lags far behind the Union in terms of creating the legal framework. "Today, virtually Ukraine has not joined a single document of the Customs Union," said Yanukovych.
He noted that today we are talking about the format of cooperation between Ukraine and the Customs Union.
"We would like to review these documents. Because there is a lot of discussion, experts talk, build various projections, there are opponents. Generally speaking, the process, I would say, is more political than economic," he said.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed that the issue is essentially political.
"This is a political choice of Ukraine itself. And we will certainly treat it with respect, any choice," he said.
Putin also stated that according to experts, including Ukrainian ones, Ukraine's GDP growth in the case of integration with the CU will range from 1.5 to 6.5%, "depending on the depth of integration."
