Kolomoyskyy Gave UNIAN Journalists Three Choices: Apologize, Resign, or Forget About Everything

Businessman Ihor Kolomoyskyy can close his news agency UNIAN.

Kommersant reports referring to one of the top managers of the 1 +1 Group which owns UNIAN.

According to the source, the team was informed about this by head of 1 +1 Oleksandr Tkachenko during a meeting on Tuesday.

"Shutting doen the agency is one of the possible scenarios," confirmed head of the National Union of Journalists (owns 0.1% of UNIAN) Nalivayko Oleh who participated in the meeting.

Mr. Tkachenko confirmed the fact of the meeting but declined to comment on its contents, citing an agreement with the staff of the agency.

Kolomoyskyy is willing to resort to such measures, if the team does not withdraw its statement on the facts of censorship on his part, says a staff member of UNIAN. It is a conflict related to the publication of false interview of Yulia Tymoshenko's defense attorney, deputy Serhii Vlasenko (Batkivschyna) and his faction colleague Oleksandra Kuzhel.

Kolomoyskyy offered UNIAN employees several options under which the agency will continue to work, and they have to choose one of them until the next meeting of the personnel, a source reports.

Under the first option the staff must apologize and withdraw its statement about censorship.

Under the second one - to resign in full, and that is over 60 people.

Under the third - to forget about the incident with the bears and continue to work as before.

"But the staff refuses to comply with the demands of the owner and asks to remove the four editors appointed last year for censoring," said one of the sources in UNIAN.
