 PGO Knows Nothing About Kuchma’s Detention. Bankova Confirms He was Planning to Leave Ukraine

Press service of the Prosecutor General's Office does not confirm information about the detention of former President Leonid Kuchma.

"We have no such information," said the head of the Media Relations Office of PGO Yurii Boychenko. According to him, such information was published by a Russian website.

Press Secretary of the Prosecutor General Margarita Velkova also said that she has no information about the possible arrest Kuchma.

Kuchma's press secretary Vadym Dolganov refused to comment on the alleged detention of ex-President, making it clear that it is just one of many rumors. A source close to Bankova also did not confirm the detention of Kuchma at the airport. "He was planning to depart from the airport Kyiv (Zhuliany), he was not detained," said the source.

The night before, a little-known Russian site Crimelist.ru stated that "Kuchma was arrested while trying to fly out of the airport Kyiv". The website was citing its own source in PGO of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the charity presidential fund of Leonid Kuchma "Ukraine" denied the information on the detention of the former President, reports 34.ua. The fund reported that Leonid Kuchma today will award scholarships of the fund in Kharkiv, and no information about the cancellation of the event has been received.
