Ivashchenko Says They Demanded him to Testify Against Tymoshenko and Turchynov

Former acting Defense Minister Valerii Ivashchenko said that he was pressured when he was under investigation.

He said in an interview with Ukrainian Tyzhden.

In particular, according to Ivashchenko, prosecutors asked him to give incriminating testimony against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and Batkivschyna deputy Oleksandr Turchynov.

"First, the prosecutors asked me to give incriminating evidence against Tymoshenko and Turchynov. I was supposed to say that they gave me the unlawful orders. But this did not take place so I could not say it," said Ivashchenko.

He added that even after the Court of Appeal of Kyiv released him from custody, the pressure continued.

"After I was released, I was offered a deal: Revoke the cassation to the Supreme Court, and we will not touch you. I refused the offer," said the former acting Defense Minister.

Он добавил, что даже после того, как Апелляционный суд Киева освободил его из-под ареста, давление продолжилось.
