"They billed usfor the amount that Ukraine did not take. Therefore, I believe,from a legal point of view, Ukraine has fulfilled all itsobligations," said Stavitskiy.
He stressed thatUkraine fulfills the conditions of the contract on gas suppliesmaking payment for the consumed gas on time and infull.
"Lawyers arestudying this issue, and we will give an appropriate legalresponse. I am confident that we will find mutual understandingwith our Russian partners," said the head of theagency.
"Yes, I tell you frankly, it is an unpleasant fact, but we treat itwith understanding from the point of view that there is a legalaspect of the issue," said the head of the Ministry ofEnergy.
He does not link this demand from Gazprom with the fact thatUkraine signed an agreement with Shell for shale gas in twoUkrainian oblasts.
"The bill was sent by Gazprom before the signing, so there is noneed to play this card," said the Minister.
