Ariev: PACE is Shocked that Vlasenko Was Not Let Out of the Country

The deputy from the opposition and the member of the Ukrainian delegation told the details of the West's reaction to the situation in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Ariev in a commentary to Censor.NET described how Europe reacted to the fact that Tymoshenko's defense attorney Serhii Vlasenko was unable to fly to the meeting.

"Everybody is shocked. I cannot put it in other words," responded the deputy to a question about what people say about the scandal with Vlasenko in PACE. "In March, the issue will be viewed at the procedural committee of PACE."

Delegate also told about the meeting held on Ukrainian issues.

Yesterday a resolution on the state of media freedom in Europe was adopted. Ukraine was given a lot of attention there. My two amendments passed -the concern of Assembly regarding attempts to restore criminal liability for libel in Ukraine and the concerns of the Assembly regarding the record number of violations of journalists' rights in Ukraine in 2012," he said.
