The relevant letter by head of Batkivschyna factionArseniy Yatsenyuk was sent to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada onMonday, January 21, reports the party press service.
The documentstates that the deputies initiate the convening of an extraordinarysession of the Verkhovna Rada with the followingagenda:
- Create atemporary investigative commission on the investigation of theviolation of the Constitution of Ukraine in the implementation ofthe arrest and detention of Yulia Tymoshenko and YuriiLutsenko;
- Hearinginformation of Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka, Interior MinisterVitalii Zakharchenko and chairman of the Security Service ofUkraine Oleksandr Yakimenko about the situation with the rights ofpolitical prisoners in Ukraine, participation of law enforcementagencies in political persecutions.
In particular,information on violations by the law enforcement officials of theconstitutional rights and guarantees established by the law onpeople's deputies which took place during a visit by deputies ofYulia Tymoshenko in Kharkiv hospital on January18;
- The politicalresponsibility of the Minister of Interior and Chairman of theSecurity Service of Ukraine for participation of law enforcementagencies in the political persecutions and violation of civilrights and liberties;
- A declaration ofno trust to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, causing hisresignation from office, in connection with the participation ofprosecutors in political persecutions, and in particular,politically motivated charges against Yulia Tymoshenko and YuriiLutsenko. This draft agenda of the extraordinary session includesissues that Vitali Klitschko's Udar party insistedon.
The oppositiondemands to hold the extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada ofUkraine on January 29. Therefore Arseniy Yatsenyuk refers to thechairman of the parliament, demanding immediate grant by theVerkhovna Rada of the petitions to collect signatures in support ofextraordinary session for the vote of distrust to the ProsecutorGeneral.
