The relevant letter by head of Batkivschyna faction Arseniy Yatsenyuk was sent to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada on Monday, January 21, reports the party press service.
The document states that the deputies initiate the convening of an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada with the following agenda:
- Create a temporary investigative commission on the investigation of the violation of the Constitution of Ukraine in the implementation of the arrest and detention of Yulia Tymoshenko and Yurii Lutsenko;
- Hearing information of Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka, Interior Minister Vitalii Zakharchenko and chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Yakimenko about the situation with the rights of political prisoners in Ukraine, participation of law enforcement agencies in political persecutions.
In particular, information on violations by the law enforcement officials of the constitutional rights and guarantees established by the law on people's deputies which took place during a visit by deputies of Yulia Tymoshenko in Kharkiv hospital on January 18;
- The political responsibility of the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine for participation of law enforcement agencies in the political persecutions and violation of civil rights and liberties;
- A declaration of no trust to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, causing his resignation from office, in connection with the participation of prosecutors in political persecutions, and in particular, politically motivated charges against Yulia Tymoshenko and Yurii Lutsenko. This draft agenda of the extraordinary session includes issues that Vitali Klitschko's Udar party insisted on.
The opposition demands to hold the extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on January 29. Therefore Arseniy Yatsenyuk refers to the chairman of the parliament, demanding immediate grant by the Verkhovna Rada of the petitions to collect signatures in support of extraordinary session for the vote of distrust to the Prosecutor General.
