Batkivschyna statement released by the press service notes: "Their courageous act has already demonstrated to all Ukraine and the world that no one has the right to impunity and cynical mockery of women and their dignity, even if they are imprisoned and are political opponents of the current criminal and anti-Ukrainian regime of Yanukovych.
Batkivschyna demands the government to immediately fulfill all demands of civil disobedience participants: to stop the illegal surveillance of Yulia Tymoshenko's ward, to remove the men from the surveilance, stop frequent humiliating body searches and inspections, ensure the legal rights of the opposition leader for phone calls.
These fulfillment of these demands shall apply not only to Yulia Tymoshenko but to all women in custody. Otherwise, mass civil disobedience and solidarity with Yulia Tymoshenko and women deputies who joined her will be initiated by Batkivschyna all over Ukraine. We also appeal to all international organizations, the OSCE, the EU, the European Parliament, PACE, demanding a proper assessment of a gross violation of rights and freedoms of women prisoners in Ukraine, in particular, the rights and freedoms of the Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko.
Joint efforts, displaying solidarity, the will, we'll stop this barbarity and lawlessness aimed against women which cannot be imagined to happen in a civilized country today, in the beginning of 21th century, in the heart of Europe."
