Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is planning to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in February.

Meanwhile, Putin's press secretary Dmitriy Peskov told the newspaper that the Kremlin has not yet received any information on the visit of Yanukovych to Moscow. "We do not know whether President Yanukovych is coming to Russia. Meeting with Vladimir Putin in February has not been planned," said Peskov.

As reported earlier, Ukraine and the EU intend to hold a summit Ukraine - EU on February 25, 2013. President Viktor Yanukovych noted that Ukraine hopes for early signing of the association agreement.

In early December 2012, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said that Ukraine should join some provisions of the Customs Union, otherwise it will suffer big losses in economic terms. In mid-December the same year, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that Ukraine is in talks with member countries of the Customs Union to find ways of cooperation.

On December 17, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso telephoned Yanukovych, and during the conversation, the date for Ukraine - EU Summit was agreed.

On December 18, a visit of Yanukovych to Moscow was supposed to take place, during which it was planned to discuss the formulation of mutually acceptable mechanism of cooperation between Ukraine and the Customs Union of the CES. At the beginning of the day the meeting was postponed. Presidential aide Yurii Ushakov said the parties were unable to finalize the documents for signing.

Experts claim that the postponement of the visit could be associated with a call from Barroso. According to another version Russia put too strict of conditions for accession to the Customs Union.
