Cabinet Preparing Improvements in Housing: Utilities and Communal Services Prices May Rise by a Third

The Cabinet of Ministers is considering raising utility tariffs to economically based levels in the near future.

According to estimates provided by the Government of the National Commission on regulation of public utilities, the rates should rise by an average of one-third, writes ZN.UA.

In particular, the National Commission has estimated that the average tariffs for heat energy in a one-bedroom apartment of 32.5 square meters compared with September, 2012 will increase by 75 hryvnia.

It is noted that the rates for one-bedroom apartment of 47.5 sq. m. will increase by 110 hryvnia, three bedroom of 62.8. sq. m will cost 146 hryvnia more, and four rooms (84.9 sq. m.) will grow by 161 hryvnia.

"If Azarov has decided on the plan (and he does not have much of a choice), this is how it will be: the budget needs money to subsidize utility bills," states the publication.
