 Yanukovych Decided on Candidate for Post of Head of National Bank

President Viktor Yanukovych proposes the Verkhovna Rada to appoint Ihor Sorkin the head of the National Bank.

This is stated in the draft resolution number 1219 registered in the parliament on January 9 reports Censor.NET.


Previously, Sorkin was appointed acting head of the National Bank of Ukraine.


Before that Sorkin from July 15, 2010 was deputy chairman of the NBU. He was responsible for banking supervision, foreign exchange and financial monitoring.


Prior to his appointment to the post of deputy chairman Sorkin headed the Banking Supervision Department of the National Bank in Donetsk oblast.

Under the law, the NBU head is appointed for a term of seven years and dismissed from the post by the Parliament at the President's recommendation.
