 After Melnychenko Made Friends with Kuzmin, Prosecutor General's Office Withdrew All Charges

Prosecutor General's Office has canceled the indictment in the criminal case against Mykola Melnychenko regarding the disclosure of state secrets and resumed its pre-trial investigation.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, the press service of the PGO stated that the appropriate procedure was conducted by an investigator within the framework of overseeing the investigation of the case conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.

At the same time, the Prosecutor General's Office could not clarify on what grounds was the pre-trial investigation reopened.

As reported earlier, the Central Investigation Department of the SSU on 26 December 2012 completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings against the former Office of State Security Major Melnychenko in the issue of disclosure of state secrets, and sent the indictment to the PGO.

Earlier, First Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin stated that it was Melnychenko who warned him that the U.S. is preparing to arrest him. "Melnychenko named those involved in these illegal actions. Among these are high-ranking officials of the U.S. State Department," said Kuzmin. By coincidence, after that the PGO canceled the indictment in the criminal case of the former major.
