At apress conference, Batkivschyna deputy Serhii Vlasenko stated:"Yesterday (December 26) Yulia Tymoshenko signed a statement to theMinister of Justice regarding the investigation ... (on the matterof possible corruption) of Skadden during the preparation of theso-called report about her case to the European Court of HumanRights ... In a statement, Tymoshenko asked the U.S. JusticeDepartment to provide a legal assessment of the actions of thefirm's lawyers," he said.
According to Vlasenko, the application was sentto the U.S. Justice Department on Thursday.
He emphasized that, if corruption accusationsare confirmed, Tymoshenko will ask to initiate appropriate criminalproceedings against the Skadden and Ukrainian officials who wereinvolved in assessing the case of ex Prime Minister and financinglawyers' work.
Vlasenko estimates the cost of Skadden reportregarding the trial of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko 1.5-2million.
He also believes that Skadden's conclusions onthe process of Tymoshenko are propaganda and politicaldocument.
As it was reported earlier, Skadden has found noevidence of political motivation in Tymoshenko verdict.
The Ministry of Justice explained the absence oftender in selecting Skadden to prepare a report on the case ofTymoshenko's gas deal with Russia by a low value of services whichdoes not make it mandatory.
In May, the Ministry of Justice agreed withSkadden to conduct an independent evaluation of the Tymoshenkotrial.
