At a press conference, Batkivschyna deputy Serhii Vlasenko stated: "Yesterday (December 26) Yulia Tymoshenko signed a statement to the Minister of Justice regarding the investigation ... (on the matter of possible corruption) of Skadden during the preparation of the so-called report about her case to the European Court of Human Rights ... In a statement, Tymoshenko asked the U.S. Justice Department to provide a legal assessment of the actions of the firm's lawyers," he said.
According to Vlasenko, the application was sent to the U.S. Justice Department on Thursday.
He emphasized that, if corruption accusations are confirmed, Tymoshenko will ask to initiate appropriate criminal proceedings against the Skadden and Ukrainian officials who were involved in assessing the case of ex Prime Minister and financing lawyers' work.
Vlasenko estimates the cost of Skadden report regarding the trial of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko 1.5-2 million.
He also believes that Skadden's conclusions on the process of Tymoshenko are propaganda and political document.
As it was reported earlier, Skadden has found no evidence of political motivation in Tymoshenko verdict .
The Ministry of Justice explained the absence of tender in selecting Skadden to prepare a report on the case of Tymoshenko's gas deal with Russia by a low value of services which does not make it mandatory.
In May, the Ministry of Justice agreed with Skadden to conduct an independent evaluation of the Tymoshenko trial.
