Yanukovych Threatens Russia with Loss of Ukrainian Market

President Viktor Yanukovych says that high gas prices will lead to the fact that Russia will lose the Ukrainian market.

He said this in an interview to the Indian newspaper The Hindu, reports the Ukrainian News.

"Keeping high gas prices for Ukraine, Russia is losing the largest European gas market of 70 billion cubic meters a year," said the President.

According to him, Ukraine does not have the money to buy gas at prices that are higher by nearly $ 200 per cubic meter than the European ones.

"We are looking for alternative sources, replacing gas with coal, and we plan to produce synthetic gas from coal," - he added.

At that, Yanukovych expressed confidence that Ukraine and Russia will come to an agreement in the gas issue.
